Hoboken Waterfront Soccer Classic 

GAME FORMAT:

Co-ed: 6v6, small-sided. A minimum of 2 female players MUST be on the field at all times. Goalkeepers do not qualify as female players. (30 minutes games)

Women: 6v6, small-sided.  Women players only. (40 minute games)

Players may only be rostered for one team in the tourney.  Players, including goal keepers may not be registered for more than one team.  Keepers will not be permitted to fill in for any other team.  

CHECK-IN:

Teams MUST check in 30 minutes prior to their first scheduled match.

*FIFA Rules will apply except for the following modifications:

MATCH TIME:

Matches will be 40 minutes. 2 x 20 minute halves with no halftime.  At the end of the first 20 minutes teams will, without delays, switch sides of the field.

ROSTERS:

Rosters may hold up to 10 players and MUST be finalized PRIOR to the start of the tournament (9:00 am).  All players must be at least 18 years of age as of the date of the tournament. 

Players may only be rostered for one team in the tourney.  Players, including goal keepers may not be registered for more than one team.  Keeper will not be permitted to fill in for any other team.   Players will not be permitted to play on teams in both divisions.  One team, per player.

Teams who violate the rule stated above and add a player(s) who is not on the roster will result in a game forfeit. Points will be awarded to the opposing team for the win and -3 points for the violating team. This violation may also lead to the removal of the team from the tournament at the discretion of the tournament officials. Fees will not be refunded for any loss of time.

PLAYING SHORT:

Co-ed:  The team must meet the following minimum requirements at all times: A minimum of 4 players must be on the field at all times, 1 of which must be female.

In the event that there are only 2 female players present for a game and a female player is not able to continue because of injury the game may continue and the score counted. The team must play down and may not replace any female players for male players.

Women:  6v6, A minimum of 4 players must be on the field at all times.

COIN TOSS:

A coin will be tossed and the team that wins the toss decides which goal it will attack in the first half of the match. The other team takes the kick-off to start the match. The team that wins the toss takes the kick-off to start the second half of the match. In the second half of the match, the teams will change sides, without delays.

ALLOWANCE FOR TIME LOST:

At the discretion of the referee, additional time may be added to the game time due to the following:

 - assessment of injury to players

 - removal of injured player from the field

 - any other cause as determined by the referee

REFEREES:

One referee will officiate each match. Referees will keep record of the official game time for each match. Abuse of referees, verbal or physical will NOT be tolerated; players or spectators violating this rule will be removed from the tournament. Teams will not be able to replace any violating players.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Unlimited substitutions are allowed during the game from the center of the field. Substitutions may be made "on the fly" or when play is ceased. If an exiting player enters the field of play and becomes "involved" in the play, an indirect kick will be awarded to the other team.

OFFSIDE POSITION:

There will be no offside position rule.

SLIDE TACKLING:

NO slide tackling.  Automatic Yellow card.  Slide tackle inside the box, Automatic Penalty Kick and Yellow card.

GOAL KICKS:

Will be taken from the goal/base line. Goal kicks must touch the ground or be played in the defensive half of the field. Any violation will result in an indirect kick by the non-violating team at the midfield line.

PENALTY KICKS:

Large goals – 12 yards from the goal line, Small goals – 10 yards from the goal line.

INDIRECT/DIRECT KICKS:

ALL fouls are INDIRECT.  There are NO direct kicks.  Players must stand 5 yards from any free kick.

KICK-INS:

No Throw-ins, Kick-ins. Players must stand 5 yards from any kick-ins. Kick-ins must touch another player (other than the kicker) in order to score. Exception: Corner kicks do not need to touch another player.

KEEPERS:

Keeper throws/punts/dropkicks must touch the ground or be played in the defensive half of the field. Any violation will result in an indirect kick by the opposing team at the midfield line.

Keepers will be assessed a hand ball violation if he/she touches the ball outside the penalty area/box is a direct free kick from the point of infraction (not a penalty shot).

Keepers may kick the ball across the half on a pass back or by dropping the ball to his/her feet.

Keepers must release the ball into play within five (5) seconds of gaining possession.

Keepers are not permitted to slide outside of the penalty area/box.

YELLOW/RED CARDS:

Yellow Card, three (3) yellow cards = one red. Must sit out one game.

Red Card, one game suspension.  Two Red Cards, removed from the tournament.

Fighting will not be tolerated.  Any player who receives a Red card for fighting will be removed from the tournament.  The team will not be allowed to replace any Red carded players.

UNIFORMS:

Shirts will be provided for all teams through the registration process.  Teams should provide their own shorts and socks.

In the event individual teams choose to wear their own jerseys they must be the same color.  Also, jerseys must have visible numbers and MUST have sleeves. In the event of a color conflict, the home team (first team listed on the game schedule) will change.
